Late Night TV

When it comes to sleep I have two modes: Out Like a Light or Up All Night. Most nights, as my wife will tell you, I will lay down, say a few words and the next thing you know I am dead to the conscious world. If she is lucky the snoring will hold off until she falls asleep, if not, I am sure to wake up around 3am to find her on the couch.  She is a trooper and actually likes to kid me about my classic line "I am not even tired"... (3 seconds of conversation) and I am facing the other way dreaming about my 24 ft.open bow Sea Ray ( I will save that for another post).

On those nights I can't saw logs instantly, I frequently find myself, as many of you fellow insomniacs do, flipping through the channels.  First off my remote sucks (thanks DirecTV, hope you are enjoying my two yr contract... another post, sorry), but then I have my own method for attacking the channel surfing.   Start at channel 206, SportsCenter, and see if there is any game that is in the 4th quarter, late innings, final ticks of the clock, etc and finish that.  Or watch the Top 10 during the actual SportsCenter show.  If that fails its time to jump to skip the next40 channels (mostly infomercials... NOT A FAN!!!) and go straight to the movie channels: TNT, USA, FX, etc.  Now unless I am really lucky this is usually a bomb, and if I am really rouging it and have two Up All Nights in the same week, you know its the same movie.  I mean seriously of the 5 million movies that have been made over the past 100 years, you really cant find a new one for each of the 365 days of the year???  So, as usual when the movies are a bust its time to go to my favorite channels... Reality TV!

Give me any of it, if its drama I love to watch, even people who are obviously ACTING like its real drama I like to watch. All time favorite (at least fr the past couple years) Cake Boss, who doesn't like FONDANT?!!!  I can watch Buddy make anything, as I am right now.  I do always wonder how much of those cakes actually get eaten, I am guessing not a lot.  No Cake Boss, my next favorite is a combination of some somewhat similar shows American Pickers, Pawn Stars, all those auction shows.  They are all basically the same, people paying money for crap and then selling it for a profit!  Its great, sometimes you get some history lessons (another favorite of mine).  These are the shows I love to watch late at night. If all else fails I think there is always an episode of Friends playing on a channel somewhere 24/7, so that is a great fallback plan.

This being my first blog, which is probably a pretty big #fail, I am getting tired of typing, so I guess I will stop.  If you thought this was good, or have your own thoughts.  Drop a line.  I know the blog page sucks now, but it will get better.  And hopefully the posts will get better too. In the meantime, when you can't sleep, hit up Buddy on TLC, I am sure he will be making something you have never seen before, and maybe if nothing else it will put you to sleep!
